This is our low-budget (is that possible in the UK??) trip to visit Danelle in Wales. We have 4 parts to the trip - the Manchester March, the Irish Time Travel, the Wales Wander and the London Theatre connection.
We start out in Manchester and visit the People's Museum and other cheap/low-budget thrills mainly concentrated in downtown Manchester. Our rental apartment overlooks Manchester United Stadium - the largest sport franchise in the world. We're going to the Monday night footbal match - Manchester U against Fulham - we're going to pull on the hob-nails, grab some spray paint and some balaclavas and sit in the cheap seats with the hooligans.
From there it's off on RyanAir (scramble seating only) landing in Dublin for four days. At Dublin the big planned trip is NewGrange, a pre-historic burial mound or some such building that's lasted over 5,000 years (pre-dating the pyramids??) and is now a World Heritage Site or something like that. The rest of the time will be spent watching the Irish stagger through their days.
Then it's off on RyanAir again - the el-cheapo Irish airline - landing in Liverpool. Danelle wants to visit the Beatles museum there. We then make our way back to Danelle's backyard - the Isle of Anglesey across the Menai Straits to a little apartment in a village called Beaumaris. We're just down the street from the village pub and across the street from thousands of years of history.
After posting some comments on the North Wales Fishing Forum, a local by the name of Gary says he's going to take us fishing for some whiting so we'll have some local flavor there.
We're also planning on seeing the Snowdonia Mountains (hills???) while we're there, touring Danelle's University Town (Bangor) and just seeing some of the local sites - castles and gaols and other history. We want to find out how Danelle is adapting to her Uni town. We've rented the apartment for a week.
It's then off to London to a great (and cheap!) apartment found by Dianne to see the Tower of London and other museums and catch some of the flavor of this historic city. The highlight of London (and possibly the tour) is to see War Horse at the New London Theatre. We're looking forward to seeing this incredible play in one of the foremost theatre districts in the world. Too Cool.
Then it's a quick train trip back to Manchester for our trip home. Should be a blast.
