The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, often simply referred to as La Boqueria, is a large public market in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and one of the city's foremost tourist landmarks, with an entrance from La Rambla, not far from the Liceu, Barcelona's opera house (...) (from Wikipedia).
Going by the official name of Mercat de Sant Josep (St Joseph’s Market), La Boquería cannot be anything but La Boquería to locals. Beneath a Victorian wrought-iron roof, you’ll find fresh food and delicacies from across Catalonia. It’s not a twee market, by any means: this is the real thing. Yes, you’ll find hand-made chocolates and sugary marshmallow swirls but you’ll also find rabbits and skinned pigs heads, plus a hefty seafood section of still-moving sea slugs and lobsters.Make sure you taste some of Spain’s finest Jamon Serrano (dried ham) on sale here.
Address: Plaça de la Boqueria, 08001, Barcelona.
