Bynäset - Hiking
At beautiful Bynäset on the Island Frösön, you can hike around a distance of about 7 km.On Frösön at Bynäset you will find nice beaches that are located both on the north and south side of Bynäset. In popular terms it is called the "Östersund Riviera". The north side offers a long black sandy beach and open grass areas for play and picnics - Västbyviken.

At beautiful Bynäset you can hike around a distance of about 7 km, run, bike and swim. Take your backpack and walk around the scenic spot. In the summer days when you feel warm you can walk to the beach and take a dip in the lake.

The area is protected by a shallow bay where the water is heated early. The view is something extraordinary with Åreskutan and Oviksfjällen

Jamtli
Jamtli offers an exciting journey through the history of Jämtland and Härjedalen. Here you will discover stimulating milieux and enjoy being part of history. The museum has permanent exhibitions about the region’s past alongside temporary exhibitions of arts and handicrafts. Some exhibitions take up current matters of public interest and explore them from an historical perspective.Here you also find the Nationalmuseum Jamtli which is a new arena for art and design experiences in Östersund. After a well attended premiere exhibition, it is now time for a sequel from the collections of Nationalmuseum. "From Dawn to Dusk - Nordic art from the turn of the twentieth century" opens on 28 May. With 130 works from artists such as Elsa Beskow, Anders Zorn and Bruno Liljefors.

Locknekratern Meteorite centre
Meteorite centre is a discovery centre in Ångsta, 25 km from Östersund, that has been created around the meteorite impact 455 million years ago. Moose Garden
Guided tours. You will see moose calves, moose cows and big moose bulls. All the moose are very tame and social and you will be able to pet them and take some lovely photos.A tour takes around 1 hour. Unique moose products such as moose paper, moose notes, moose waffles, moose soap, etc.

Trekking/walking in Östersund sorroundings
In Östersund sorroundings you´ll find many nice walking tracks, about 2-7 km long. The tracks follow wallking tracks, paths in the forest, bicycle- and car roads.

Welcome!You can stay for one night or many in the hideouts, located near Landön. They are ideally situated for viewing and photographing brown bears and other wildlife, which often pass through, and for simply enjoying Jämtland’s pristine environment. Nearby wildlife baiting areas comply with the County Administrative Board of Jämtland’s regulations.

The well-built hideouts offer high comfort with a stove, four full beds, and a smaller side bed. A long-drop toilet is situated outdoors. We can also drive you to the door of one of our hideouts. This hideout is also suitable for people with disabilities thanks to a wheelchair ramp and a larger long drop toilet. A short walk is required to reach the restroom.
