Šibenik is a historic town in Croatia, with population of 51,553 (2001). It is located in central Dalmatia where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. Šibenik is a political, educational, transport, industrial and tourist center of Šibenik-Knin county.(...) (from Wikipedia).

Once a Croatian fortress the city of Sibenik spent centuries as a Venetian bulwark against the Ottomans. The legacy of those days is a rambling Old Town that is home to a stunning Cathedral.

Day 1 Park outside the largely pedestrianised Old Town and wander along the waterfront admitting the views across to the channel that connects the Krka River with the sea, before cutting right into Trg Republike Hrvatske, home to St. James’ Cathedral. Follow the hillside and the steps east of the cathedral, which spill out on to Pod Tvrdavom which leads on to St. Michael’s Fortress. Drive to Skradin afterwards.
