Located on the estuary of the Rio de la Plate, Buenos Aires is the largest city in Argentina and the second largest city on the continent of South America. The Argentine capital has experienced a growth in tourist popularity over the past decade. Today, it is estimated that some 2.5 million visitors plan a trip to Buenos Aires every year.

Most visitors arrive in the city via Ministro Pistarini International Airport, which is located southwest of the city center. The city’s public transport network includes buses, trams, and an underground railway system. The city is home to an assortment of attractions and landmarks that prove very popular with tourists. These include Plaza de Mayo, where protests and celebrations have been held for centuries; the city’s botanical gardens; and the neighborhood of Palermo, where restaurants, hotels, and an expansive woodland can all be enjoyed. History and art buffs will enjoy a trip to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts) and the Museo de Art Latinoamericano (the Museum of Latin American Art).

Buenos Aires is home to some of the most interesting architecture in South America. Visitors interested in such should head to Avenida de Mayo where numerous magnificently designed buildings can be found. The street also hosts a number of bookshops and cafés for those looking to stroll their way through the day. One of the city’s most stunning landmarks is the Teatro Colon, one of the world’s best opera houses. A tour of the building will impress - but taking in a performance here will definitely amaze.

Any Buenos Aires trip plan should include two things that are very dear to the heart of the city’s residents: tango and soccer. Many tourists try their hand – or foot – at the tango, visiting clubs and classes where the dance is taught to beginners and intermediates. Meanwhile, a trip to Estadio Alberto J. Armando, home to the city’s beloved Boca Juniors, for any soccer fan visiting the city.
