Day Five late or Day Six
Picturesque hilltop town off the beaten track. Drive from the coast road (N340/A7) by turning inland at Km. 147 (between Estepona and Sabinillas) near Torre de la Sal and head inland for 15 km. Restaurant La Terraza - park the Car either here or by one of the other bars a little further on and climb down one of the footpaths that lead into the village. Not cheap.
Julius Caesar ordered its construction as a show of gratitude for having been healed by the waters of the Baths of La Hedionda. Current town: dates from the Moors. Ruins of an Arab castle, the 17th cent church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, 16th cent convent of Santa Catalina, caves of Ballesteros, the caves of Hedionda and the Sima de los Huesos (abyss of bones)
